Dahilayan Adventure Park, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, Asia
Dahilayan Adventure Park is an extreme sports and eco-tourism destination located in the foothills of Mount Kitanglad in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, approximately 40 kilometers from Cagayan de Oro City. It is situated at an elevation of 1,450 meters, providing a cool mountain climate.
Visual Characteristics
The park is characterized by vast pine-covered hills, manicured lawns, and artificial lagoons. The infrastructure is dominated by steel towers and cables for its zipline systems. To the west, the park offers panoramic views of the Bukidnon mountain ranges and the lush canyons of the Manolo Fortich area.
Location & Access Logistics
The site is located in Barangay Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich. Access from Cagayan de Oro is via the Sayre Highway, followed by a turn at the Camp Phillips junction in Agusan. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. While public vans operate from the Agora Bus Terminal in Cagayan de Oro, private vehicles or rented shuttle services are the primary means of transport.
Historical & Ecological Origin
Developed in the late 2000s, the park was established to utilize Bukidnon’s high-altitude terrain for adventure tourism. It borders the Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park, a protected area and ASEAN Heritage Park. The development emphasized the integration of adventure facilities within the existing pine forest ecosystem.
Key Highlights & Activities
The park is famous for the Dual Zipline, which was formerly the longest in Asia at 840 meters. Other activities include the Razorback Mountain Coaster (the first alpine coaster in the Philippines), the Drop Zone (a 120-foot freefall swing), and the Skytower Base Jump. The adjacent Dahilayan Forest Park offers family-oriented activities like ATV tracks and luge rides.
Infrastructure & Amenities
Accommodation is available on-site at Pinegrove Mountain Lodge and Dahilayan Forest Park Resort. Public restrooms and shower facilities are located near the main activity hubs. The area has consistent 4G/5G cellular coverage, though signal strength can fluctuate near the canyons. Dining options include the Pinegrove Restaurant and various snack stalls within the forest park area.
Best Time to Visit
The best time for photography and activities is during the early morning (08:00 to 10:00) when the mountain air is clearest and fog is minimal. The dry season from March to May offers the most predictable conditions for high-altitude rides. The park is significantly busier on weekends and national holidays.
Facts & Legends
A unique feature of the park is that all zipline riders are transported back to the base via a 4x4 safari cruiser, providing an additional view of the pine forests. It is a common local tip that visitors should bring light jackets even during the summer months, as temperatures at the park can drop significantly below the lowland average.
