Hinagdanan Cave is a naturally lit limestone cavern in Dauis, Panglao Island, Bohol. It is characterized by its large stalactites and stalagmites and a deep, greenish-blue brackish lagoon.
Visual Characteristics
The cave features a dramatic ceiling with numerous limestone formations. It is naturally illuminated by sunlight filtering through two circular holes in the ceiling, which creates spotlights on the water's surface. The lagoon is approximately 10 to 12 meters deep at its center, with cool, clear water.

Address: Bingag, Dauis, Bohol.
Access: Located on the northern side of Panglao Island.
Transport: 15–20 minutes from Alona Beach or Tagbilaran City via tricycle, car, or motorbike.
Operating Hours: 08:00–17:00 daily.
Fees: Entrance is approximately PHP 50; an additional PHP 75 is required if intending to swim in the lagoon.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The cave was discovered accidentally by a farmer clearing land; he found the holes and dropped a ladder (hagdan), hence the name "Hinagdanan" (meaning "laddered"). It is a karst cave formed over centuries by the dissolution of soluble rocks. During World War II, it was used by locals as a hideout from Japanese forces.
