The building features a 176-meter long colonnade of glass and steel, characterized by a minimalist industrial aesthetic. The building was designed by architect Jo Coenen and completed in 1993 to house the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi). In 2013, the NAi merged with Premsela and Virtueel Platform to form the current multidisciplinary organization. The structure was specifically engineered to house the extensive National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning.
