Visual Characteristics

The beach features a wide expanse of fine, golden sand. The water is typically clear and exhibits shades of turquoise and blue. The cove is bordered by moderate cliffs and pine-covered hills. The beach measures approximately 200 meters in length and 100 meters in width.

Location & Access Logistics

Cala Llonga is located 8 kilometers northeast of Santa Eularia des Riu. Access is via the PM-810 road, turning onto the signposted road leading to the beach. Ample parking is available in a large, paved lot directly behind the beach, though it can fill during peak season. Bus line 15 from Ibiza Town and Santa Eularia des Riu serves the beach, with a stop at the main road entrance.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Cala Llonga is a natural cove formed by coastal erosion. The surrounding hills are composed of limestone bedrock, typical of the Balearic Islands' geology. The area supports Mediterranean scrub vegetation, including Aleppo pines and various aromatic herbs.

Key Highlights & Activities

Swimming and sunbathing are primary activities. Water sports equipment rental, including paddleboards and kayaks, is available during the summer months. Lifeguard services are present from June to September. The shallow, calm waters make it suitable for families with young children.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are located near the parking area. Several beach bars and restaurants line the promenade behind the sand, offering food and drink. Shade is provided by natural vegetation and rented umbrellas. Cell phone signal (4G) is generally reliable.

Best Time to Visit

For photography, early morning or late afternoon light offers optimal conditions. The best months for weather are May, June, September, and October, with average temperatures between 20-28°C. July and August are the hottest months. High tide does not significantly impact the usable beach area.

Facts & Legends

Local lore suggests that the cove was historically used by fishermen for shelter during storms. The name "Cala Llonga" translates to "Long Cove," referencing its elongated shape.
