It is accessible on foot from most central hotels or via the primary road connecting Trikala to Meteora. Opened in December 2014, the museum was established as a private initiative to document the fauna of the Pindus mountain range and the unique mycological specimens of the Meteora region. It operates in collaboration with the Hellenic Zoological Society and mycologists to maintain its educational and conservationist focus.
