Relocation and Reconstruction: In 1978, the Nigerian government relocated the Lagos Memorial and the Nigeria Memorial to form a new Nigerian National Memorial at Tafewa Balewa Square in Lagos. Subsequently, in 1989, this structure was dismantled to facilitate the construction of a new memorial in Abuja, leading to the establishment of the current Abuja Memorial within the National Military Cemetery.
