The pond was created in the early 1970s as part of a beautification project. The area is situated within the Wood River Valley, a region characterized by alluvial deposits from the Big Wood River.
Key Highlights & Activities
Activities include picnicking at designated tables, using the children's playground, walking or cycling on the internal paved path, and fishing in the pond (catch and release is encouraged). The open lawn area is suitable for informal sports. Seasonal events, such as farmers' markets, are held in the park.
Infrastructure & Amenities
The park contains public restrooms located near the main parking lot. Several covered picnic shelters are available. Shade is provided by mature trees. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally consistent within the park. No on-site food vendors operate within the park; however, commercial establishments are located within a 0.5 kilometer radius in the downtown area.
Best Time to Visit
For photography, early morning (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM) and late afternoon (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) offer softer light. The months of June through September provide the most favorable weather conditions with average daytime temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C. The pond is accessible year-round, with no specific tide requirements.
Facts & Legends
A local anecdote suggests that the pond was once stocked with trout by a group of anonymous residents in the 1980s, though official records do not confirm this. The park is a common resting point for migratory birds during spring and fall.
