The sanctuary is situated within the urban limits of Jinotega. It is located approximately 1.5 kilometers south of the central park (Parque Central). Access is via Carretera Panamericana Sur (CA-1). Parking is available on a gravel lot adjacent to the sanctuary, with capacity for approximately 20 vehicles. Public bus routes serving the southern districts of Jinotega stop within a 200-meter walk of the site.

The sanctuary was constructed in 1970. The initiative was led by local parishioners and the then-bishop of the Diocese of Matagalpa. Its original purpose was to serve as a pilgrimage site and a focal point for Marian devotion within the region.

For photography, the late afternoon (approximately 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM) offers favorable lighting conditions with softer shadows. The dry season, from November to April, generally provides the most pleasant weather for visiting.
Facts & Legends
A local tradition holds that placing a small offering of a candle at the base of the statue during a full moon is believed to bring good fortune. The sanctuary is a key site during the annual Fiestas de San Juan Bosco in late January, drawing significant numbers of pilgrims.
