Visual Characteristics
The Oval is a large, flat, grassed field bounded by Beach Street to the east and the volcanic foothills to the west. It is surrounded by several of Levuka's most significant colonial-era buildings and mature shade trees. Unlike modern enclosed stadiums, the Oval is an open public space with unobstructed views of the Koro Sea across the main road.

Historical & Ecological Origin
The Oval was established during the late 19th century as a recreation ground for British colonial administrators and the local community.
