A primary example of Perpendicular Gothic Revival architecture. The structure is defined by its sandy-colored Anston limestone, extensive stonework tracery, and three main towers: the Victoria Tower (tallest), the Elizabeth Tower (housing Big Ben), and the Central Tower.

Historical Origin
The current building was designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin after a fire destroyed most of the medieval palace in 1834. Construction occurred between 1840 and 1870. The only major medieval part remaining is Westminster Hall, built in 1097.
