This structure is characterized by its neo-Gothic facade, constructed from pink quarried stone, which rises to a height of approximately 60 meters. The current facade was designed by local master stonemason Zeferino Gutiérrez in the late 19th century, inspired by European Gothic cathedrals, though the original church dates back to the 17th century.

Parking is available in paid public lots approximately 200-300 meters from the plaza, such as the Estacionamiento Público El Pípila. Public bus services terminate at the central bus station, which is a 15-minute walk (approximately 1km) to the Jardín Principal.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The original structure was founded as a Franciscan convent in the mid-16th century. The current parish church was built on the site of the original convent church, with significant facade reconstruction occurring between 1880 and 1890 under the direction of Zeferino Gutiérrez. Its primary purpose has always been religious worship and community gathering.
