Numerous tour operators offer day trips from Ha Long City and Cat Ba Island, with boat transfer times varying between 30 to 60 minutes. There is no direct road access. Parking is available for tour boats at a designated pier.

The island's limestone formations are part of the larger karst landscape of Ha Long Bay, which was geologically formed over millions of years through erosion and tectonic activity. The island was named Ti Top in 1962 after Soviet cosmonaut Gherman Titov visited the island.
