Volcano Bay opened on May 25, 2017. It was designed by Universal Creative, the same division responsible for other Universal theme parks. The park's theme is inspired by Polynesian culture and mythology, with Krakatau representing a fictional volcano central to the island's lore. Early arrival is recommended to experience popular attractions with minimal wait times.

They discovered the island of Volcano Bay, a paradise protected by the spirit of the volcano, Krakatau.
