Bodbe Monastery is situated approximately 2 kilometers south of Signagi. Access is via the S10 highway, turning onto the local road leading to the monastery. Signagi is reachable from Tbilisi by the S4 highway. Parking is available on-site. Public transport options include marshrutka (minibus) services from Tbilisi to Signagi, from which a taxi or a short walk is required to reach the monastery.

The original church at Bodbe was built in the 4th century by King Mirian III of Iberia to commemorate Saint Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity. The current basilica dates from the 9th century, with significant renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries. The site is located on a hillside overlooking the Alazani Valley.
