Branicki Palace (Pałac Branickich) is a major Late Baroque architectural complex in Białystok, often referred to as the "Polish Versailles" or the "Versailles of the North." It is the most significant historical landmark in the city and currently serves as the headquarters of the Medical University of Białystok.
Visual Characteristics
The palace is a monumental U-shaped building featuring a classic Baroque facade with rich sculptural decorations, a grand courtyard (cour d'honneur), and extensive geometric gardens. It is characterized by its white and yellow exterior, ornate pediments, and symmetrical pavilions.

Historical Origin
The current Baroque form was commissioned by Jan Klemens Branicki, Great Crown Hetman, and built between 1728 and 1758. It was designed by leading architects of the era, including Jan Henryk Klemm and Jan Zygmunt Deybel. The site previously held a 16th-century defensive castle. During WWII, the palace was burned by the retreating German army in 1944 and was meticulously reconstructed between 1946 and 1960.
