Location & Access Logistics
Memorial Park is situated at 1200 9th Street SE, Huron, SD. It is approximately 2.5 kilometers southeast of the Huron city center. Access is via 9th Street SE, which provides direct entry to the park. A dedicated parking lot with capacity for 50 vehicles is available on the west side of the park. Public transport is limited; however, the city bus route #3 stops at the intersection of 9th Street SE and 10th Street SE, a 0.3km walk from the park entrance.
Historical & Ecological Origin
Memorial Park was established in 1955 as a tribute to local veterans. The central monument was dedicated in 1958. The park occupies land that was formerly agricultural, with the landscaping designed to create a recreational area for the community.

Visitors can observe the granite war memorial. Walking and jogging are permitted on the paved paths. Picnicking is available at designated tables. The open lawn areas are suitable for informal recreation.

A specific detail regarding the monument's construction is that each granite block was transported from a quarry in Milbank, South Dakota. Local lore suggests that the park's oldest oak tree, located near the southwest corner, was planted by the town's founder.
