Pedestrian access is possible via a 90-minute uphill hike on marked trails from the port.
Historical & Ecological Origin
Construction began in 1794 by a group of "Kollyvades" monks who fled Mount Athos. It was completed in 1806. The monastery played a critical role during the Greek War of Independence, providing a hideout for insurgents. The surrounding landscape consists of dense pine and cypress forests within a protected ecological zone.

Restrooms are available near the entrance for public use. The inner courtyard provides shaded seating under a large plane tree. 4G cellular signal is stable in the outdoor areas. A small cafe (Arhontariki) serves traditional refreshments. Strict dress codes are enforced; wraps are provided at the entrance for those wearing shorts or sleeveless tops.
