Historical & Ecological Origin
The land was originally part of the estate of John and Eleanor Fellows. Following their deaths, the property was bequeathed to the Youngstown Foundation, with the stipulation that it be developed into a public garden. The gardens were established in 1955 and have been expanded and maintained by the Fellows Riverside Gardens organization and the Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department.
