Madrid Rio, Madrid, Spain, Europe
Madrid Río is a massive urban park and linear green space stretching along the banks of the Manzanares River. It was created following the underground burial of the M-30 ring road, transforming a former highway zone into a recreational corridor.
Visual Characteristics
The park features a modern landscape design that integrates the river with the city. It is characterized by granite paved paths, pine forests, tiered gardens, and numerous bridges ranging from historic stone structures to avant-garde designs. The most iconic bridge is the Arganzuela Footbridge, a spiral-shaped metal tunnel designed by Dominique Perrault.
