Historical & Ecological Origin

Mount Ashland is a stratovolcano, part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, though its current volcanic activity is considered dormant. The ski area was established in 1961. The Mount Ashland Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, took over operations in 1998 to ensure its continued existence and community benefit.

Key Highlights & Activities

Best Time to Visit

For skiing and snowboarding, the season typically runs from mid-December to mid-April, dependent on snow conditions. Mid-morning offers optimal lighting for photography on the slopes. For hiking, the summer months (July-September) provide clear access and drier conditions.
