Simba Zoo, Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, Europe
Simba Zoo in Zaporizhzhia was a private zoo located at Tekhnikumskaya Street, 1, in the city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. It was known for offering visitors the chance to see a variety of animals, including lions, and provided activities such as horse rides. The zoo attracted local visitors and tourists interested in experiencing wildlife up close.
However, according to the latest information available as of 2024, Simba Zoo is no longer operational and has been closed. The closure was influenced by difficult circumstances, particularly due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
A notable event related to Simba Zoo was the evacuation of some of its animals during the war. In 2022, the zoo’s lion named Simba and a wolf named Akila were rescued and relocated to Romania for their safety. This evacuation was a complex and dangerous operation carried out by animal protection organizations aiming to save the animals from the war zone.
Later, Simba the lion, along with another lion named Mir, were moved from Romania to South Africa, where they were given permanent sanctuary in a wildlife reserve, ensuring their safety and a natural environment to live in.
If you are planning to visit Zaporizhzhia and are interested in zoos or wildlife parks, it is advisable to check for up-to-date information about currently operating facilities, as Simba Zoo is no longer open to the public. Other natural parks or wildlife centers may offer similar experiences in the region.
