Wildwood Park is situated 8 kilometers west of Milwaukee's central business district. Access is via West Capitol Drive (Wisconsin Highway 190). Turn south onto North 76th Street; the park entrance is 0.3 kilometers down on the west side of the road. A dedicated parking lot with approximately 50 spaces is available at the main entrance. The Milwaukee County Transit System Route 30 bus stops at the intersection of West Capitol Drive and North 76th Street, a 0.2km walk to the park entrance.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The land was acquired by the City of Milwaukee in 1952 through a land donation from the Wildwood Land Company. It was designated as a park in 1955. Ecologically, it represents a remnant of the original mesic forest that once covered this region of Wisconsin.
