The Cattedrale di San Lorenzo (Cathedral of Saint Lawrence) is the primary Roman Catholic seat of the Diocese of Lugano, situated on a hillside overlooking the historic city center and Lake Lugano.

The cathedral is defined by its imposing white limestone facade, which is considered a masterpiece of the Lombard Renaissance. The exterior features three portals decorated with intricate bas-reliefs and a large rose window. The interior is characterized by late Gothic vaulting and a series of Baroque side chapels, with significant 14th-century frescoes and a high altar constructed from multi-colored marble.

The site has housed a church since at least 818 AD. The current structure was primarily built in the late 15th century, with the facade completed in 1517. The building underwent extensive restoration between 2010 and 2017 to stabilize the structure and restore the interior frescoes and decorative elements.
