Parco Ciani, Lugano, Switzerland, Europe
Parco Ciani is a 63,000-square-meter civic park located on the shore of Lake Lugano. It is regarded as the "green lung" of the city and one of the most significant botanical gardens in Switzerland.
Visual Characteristics
The park is characterized by a mix of English-style gardens, manicured lawns, and winding gravel paths. Its vegetation is a blend of native alpine flora and exotic sub-tropical species, including palm trees, camellias, azaleas, and magnolias. The park’s most photographed feature is the "Gate to the Lake" (Porta sul Lago)-a wrought-iron gate that opens directly onto the water with Monte San Salvatore in the background.
