LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura is a multidisciplinary cultural center located on the lakefront promenade. It is the primary venue for visual arts, music, and performing arts in southern Switzerland.

Visual Characteristics

The complex is characterized by modern architecture designed by Ivano Gianola. The exterior features a prominent cantilevered wing clad in green marble (Verde Spluga), which extends toward the lake. The structure incorporates the historic 16th-century cloisters of the former Franciscan monastery of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

Connectivity: Situated at the southern end of the lakeside promenade (Riva).

Concert and Theatre Hall: A 1,000-seat acoustic chamber lined with pearwood, designed for orchestral performances and theatrical productions. It serves as the home for the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI).

Piazza Bernardino Luini: An open urban space that connects the modern building to the lake and the historic church.
