Historical Origin
Founded in 1499 as part of a Franciscan monastery, the church was consecrated in 1515. It remains an emblematic example of Renaissance monastic architecture in the Ticino region.

The Passion and Crucifixion: A monumental 1529 fresco by Bernardino Luini, a student of Leonardo da Vinci. It covers approximately 110 square meters and depicts over 150 figures in extraordinary detail.
The Last Supper: Located on the left wall of the nave, this is another major work by Luini, originally painted for the monastery's refectory.
The Madonna and Child: A fresco in the first side chapel, also attributed to the school of Luini.
