Nordkraft is situated at Kjellerups Torv 1, approximately 1.5 km east of Aalborg city center. Access by car is via Østre Havnegade or Nyhavnsgade, with paid underground parking available directly beneath the complex. Public transport includes several city bus lines; bus stops such as "Nordkraft" or "Østre Havnegade" are within a 100-meter walk, served by lines like 12 and 17.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Constructed in 1947, the building originally functioned as a coal-fired power plant for Aalborg. It was decommissioned in 1999. The transformation into Nordkraft began in 2004 and was completed in 2009, with the architectural firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects leading the redesign. Its original purpose was to supply electricity and district heating to the city.
