Overview

Tucked into Fontvieille, Monaco, the Princess Grace Rose Garden-created in 1984 by Prince Rainier III in memory of Princess Grace-spreads across about 5,000 square meters, where thousands of roses catch the light and reflect her elegance, her love for nature, and the legacy she left behind, then tucked away in the Fontvieille district, this quiet garden feels like a small oasis, where roses nod in the breeze and both locals and visitors linger to admire it, occasionally Prince Rainier III opened the Princess Grace Rose Garden on June 18, 1984, two years after her passing, as a living tribute to her love of flowers-especially roses-and her bond with Monaco, on top of that over time, it’s been lovingly tended and expanded, with a major update in 2014 marking its 30th anniversary.Today, more than 6,000 rose bushes bloom in 315 varieties, from velvety hybrid teas to climbing roses that spill over arches, filling the air with sweet fragrance, moreover several blooms, like the soft pink Grace de Monaco, honor her by name.Geometric beds and winding paths invite slow strolls, while plaques tell each rose’s story, subsequently at the heart stands a bronze statue of Princess Grace by sculptor Kees Verkade, lending the space a deeply personal touch. The garden’s managed with eco-friendly methods, including a smart irrigation system, and sits within Fontvieille Park, alongside a tranquil lake, sculptures, and shady walking trails, in addition located near the harbor, it’s easy to reach and fully accessible; admission is free from sunrise to sunset.Spring and summer bring the most dazzling displays, but its beauty lasts all year, what’s more visitors can wander alone or join guided tours, and while picnics aren’t allowed inside, the neighboring park offers plenty of room to relax, occasionally Photography is a favorite pastime here, and occasional commemorations or rose workshops add to its charm, equally important nearby, you’ll find the marina, the Monaco Top Cars Collection, and Stade Louis II.More than a garden, it’s a area where the memory of Princess Grace still blossoms, in conjunction with whether you love wandering through wildflowers, tracing the echoes of the past, or just breathing in the quiet, this garden invites you into a space where beauty, memory, and calm linger in the air.
