Multiple paid parking lots are situated near the railway station and the lower funicular station.

The settlement was founded in 1793 when Štefan Csáky built a hunting lodge near local mineral springs. It developed into a prominent climatic spa throughout the 19th century due to its acidic mineral water and high-altitude air. The ecological surroundings are part of the Tatra National Park, characterized by granite-rich soil and a mix of spruce, larch, and Swiss pine.
