The foundation stone for the Albert Hall Museum was laid in 1876 by Sir Samuel Jacob, and it was designed by Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob. It was originally intended to be a public exhibition hall and museum. Construction was completed in 1887, and it was opened to the public in 1887.
