Victoria Square is a central public park located in the central business district of Christchurch, New Zealand.

The square features a large, central fountain, the Victoria Fountain, constructed from granite. Surrounding the fountain are extensive paved areas, grass lawns, and mature trees, including plane trees and oaks. The perimeter is defined by low stone walls and decorative iron fencing. The ground surface is primarily asphalt and grass.

Victoria Square is situated at the intersection of Colombo Street and Victoria Street, approximately 0.5km north of the central Christchurch Bus Interchange. Vehicle access is via Colombo Street and Victoria Street. Public parking is available in multi-story car parks within a 200-meter radius, such as the Lichfield Street Car Park. Bus routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 17 stop within 100 meters of the square.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The square was established in the mid-19th century as part of Christchurch's original town plan. It was named in honor of Queen Victoria. The area was originally a marshland before being drained and developed as a public space. The trees planted are typical of temperate deciduous species suited to the Canterbury Plains climate.

For photography, early morning or late afternoon light offers optimal illumination of the fountain and surrounding greenery. The months of March to May (autumn) and September to November (spring) provide mild weather conditions. There are no tide-dependent activities.
Facts & Legends
A notable feature is the Queen Victoria statue, erected in 1905. The square has been a focal point for significant civic events and protests throughout Christchurch's history. During the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes, the square sustained damage but remained a critical open space for the community.
