Artists Alliance Gallery is a three-story contemporary art space located along the Atlantic coast in the La neighborhood of Accra, Ghana. It functions as a major repository and commercial outlet for traditional and modern African art, founded by the renowned Ghanaian artist Ablade Glover.

The gallery is a large, white multi-level concrete building featuring expansive glass windows and an open-plan interior. The floors are connected by wide staircases, leading to galleries filled with large-scale oil paintings, intricately carved wooden furniture, and metal sculptures. The top floor offers direct panoramic views of the ocean, while the exterior grounds feature oversized sculptures and a paved parking area.

Location & Access Logistics

The site is situated on La Road, positioned between the Labadi Beach Hotel and the Osu district. Access is via the coastal road (Teshie-Nungua Road) using a private vehicle, taxi, or "tro-tro" minibuses serving the Labadi route. The main entrance is marked by a large gate and signage on the seaward side of the road. Paved on-site parking is provided for approximately 20 vehicles.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Professor Ablade Glover established the gallery in 1993 to provide a professional platform for Ghanaian and West African artists to exhibit their work without external intermediaries. The current structure was custom-built to accommodate high-volume art storage and display. The site is located on a coastal strip characterized by high salinity and sandy soils, requiring specialized maintenance for the outdoor metal installations.

Visitors can view and purchase a wide range of works, including Glover’s signature crowd-scene paintings, Asafo flags, and traditional hand-woven Kente cloths. The gallery also stocks "fantasy coffins" (abebuu adekai) from the Teshie region. Guided tours are available to explain the symbolism behind the various ethnic artifacts and contemporary pieces on display.
