Location & Access Logistics
The canyon entrance is approximately 25 kilometers west of Helena, Montana. Access is via State Highway 141 (also known as the Lincoln Road). Turn off Highway 141 onto Forest Service Road 191. Parking is available at designated pull-offs along Forest Service Road 191. No public transport services reach the canyon directly.

The best months for visiting are typically June through September, when weather conditions are most favorable and river levels are generally suitable for activities. Avoid spring runoff periods due to high water levels.
