The center is located approximately 1.5 km south of Østerlars village, accessible via Stangevej, which branches off Østerlarsvej (Road 158). It is situated 7 km southwest of Gudhjem and 15 km northeast of Rønne. On-site parking is available for private vehicles. Public transport options include bus line 3 to Østerlars, followed by a 15-minute walk along Stangevej.

Bornholm's Medieval Center was established in 1995 as a historical reconstruction project. It is not an original medieval site but a purpose-built educational and visitor attraction, designed to accurately represent daily life, crafts, and warfare during the 14th century on Bornholm, based on archaeological and historical research.
