Orapa Game Park is located approximately 15 kilometers west of Letlhakane. Access is via the A3 road, turning off onto a gravel track signposted for the park entrance. The park entrance is approximately 5 kilometers from the A3. Parking is available at the main reception area. No public transport directly serves the park; private vehicle or organized tour transport is required.

The park was established in 1971 to conserve the wildlife populations of the region, particularly the large herds of springbok and gemsbok that inhabit the area. Ecologically, it is part of the Kalahari ecosystem, characterized by semi-arid conditions and a diverse range of drought-adapted flora and fauna.
