Eastwood City, Quezon City, Philippines, Asia

Eastwood City is a 17-hectare mixed-use development and residential complex located in Bagumbayan, Quezon City. Launched in 1997, it is recognized as the Philippines' first "cyberpark," integrating residential, commercial, and office spaces.

Visual Characteristics

The development is characterized by a high-density urban skyline featuring glass-and-steel skyscrapers. The central area, Eastwood Citywalk, is an open-air commercial strip with a Mediterranean-inspired design, featuring cobblestone walkways and vibrant signage. At night, the area is heavily illuminated with neon lights and digital billboards. The Eastwood Mall section features more modern, sleek architectural lines with indoor gardens and a prominent central fountain.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Developed by Megaworld Corporation, Eastwood City transformed a former industrial textile district into a premier IT hub. It was the first project to be granted status as an IT Park by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). Ecologically, the area is entirely artificial and urbanized, though it incorporates small pockets of greenery and "pet-friendly" parks within its high-rise environment.

Key Highlights & Activities

Eastwood City Walk of Fame: Inspired by the Hollywood original, this feature honors prominent Filipino celebrities with embedded brass stars on the sidewalk.

Eastwood Mall: A high-end shopping center featuring a luxury cinema and an indoor musical fountain.

Pet-Friendly Zones: One of the most famous pet-friendly destinations in the city, with specialized parks and establishments that allow animals.

Nightlife and Dining: A massive concentration of al fresco restaurants, bars, and 24/7 cafes catering to the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) sector.

Central Plaza: A venue for frequent outdoor concerts, New Year's Eve countdowns, and seasonal events.

Infrastructure & Amenities

The township operates on a 24/7 cycle. It includes high-speed fiber optic infrastructure, multiple multi-level parking garages, and 24-hour security. Public restrooms are located within the malls and Citywalk. 5G cellular coverage is excellent throughout the complex.

Best Time to Visit

The area is most vibrant in the evening (18:00–22:00) when the lights and al fresco dining are in full effect. It is a popular spot for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Weekends are generally crowded with families and pet owners.

Facts & Legends

Eastwood City is often credited with sparking the "live-work-play" township trend in the Philippines. It remains a primary hub for the country’s outsourcing industry, meaning the area never truly "closes," with many establishments operating around the clock to serve graveyard-shift workers.
