The ferry ride duration is approximately 20 minutes. Parking is available at the Treasure Cay ferry terminal. There are no direct road connections from Great Abaco Island to Green Turtle Cay.

The settlement of New Plymouth was established in 1783 by Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution. The island's name is derived from the green sea turtles that historically frequented its waters.
