Public ferry services operate from Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island, with multiple departures daily. The ferry terminal is located at the southern end of the island.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The island's history is tied to the Loyalist settlers who arrived in the late 18th century. It became renowned for its skilled boat builders, a tradition that continues today. Ecologically, it is a sandy cay formed by coral reef activity and sediment deposition.

Key Highlights & Activities

Visitors can observe traditional boat construction at Albury Brothers Boats and Joe's Cruisers. Walking or cycling the island's main paths is a primary activity. Swimming and snorkeling are possible in the calm waters on the leeward side of the island. Fishing charters can be arranged from the marina.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are available at the ferry dock and at the small general store. Limited shade is provided by palm trees and building overhangs. Cell phone signal (4G) is generally available. There are a few small shops and a restaurant on the island; food vendors are not a consistent feature.

Best Time to Visit

The best time for weather is between December and May, with average temperatures ranging from 70-80°F (21-27°C). Mid-morning offers good lighting for photography of the boats and colorful houses. High tide is not a critical factor for access or activities.
