Plaza de la Mujer is situated at the intersection of Calle Zaragoza and Avenida Padre Mier in downtown Monterrey. It is approximately 1 kilometer south of the Macroplaza. Public parking is available in the underground parking garage beneath the adjacent Palacio de Gobierno, accessible from Calle 5 de Mayo. Bus lines 101, 108, and 202 stop within a 200-meter radius on Avenida Padre Mier.

The plaza was inaugurated in 1990. The central sculpture, titled "La Mujer Regiomontana," was designed by sculptor Margarita Garcia. The area was previously a less-developed urban block before its redevelopment into a public space.
