The Ptuj-Ormož Regional Museum (Pokrajinski muzej Ptuj-Ormož) is the largest and most comprehensive cultural institution in the Drava region. It is primarily housed within the Ptuj Castle complex, with additional collections located in various historic buildings throughout the city.
Visual Characteristics
The museum’s main headquarters is Ptuj Castle, a hilltop fortress exhibiting architectural styles from the Romanesque through the Baroque periods. The interior is characterized by expansive, high-ceilinged ceremonial halls, arched corridors with Renaissance stucco work, and authentic historical room layouts. Display cases are designed to integrate with the castle’s stone walls and wooden floors.

Facts & Legends
The museum manages the Povoden Museum, the oldest "lapidarium" in the region, consisting of Roman stone monuments built into the wall of the City Tower in 1830. A local legend claims that the museum's extensive collection of Kurent masks holds protective spirits that ensure the coming of spring.
