Historical & Ecological Origin
Alp Languard is famous for its Ibex colony, one of the largest in the Swiss Alps. Following the reintroduction of the ibex to Switzerland in the early 20th century, the Languard region became a primary sanctuary. Geologically, the area is composed of Gneiss and Schist, creating the rugged, broken terrain preferred by alpine ungulates.
