Faro Monumental | Antofagasta

The Faro Monumental is a prominent lighthouse and cultural landmark situated on the coast of Antofagasta, Chile.

This structure serves as a navigational aid and a symbol for the city.

Visual Characteristics

The Faro Monumental is an octagonal tower constructed from reinforced concrete. Its exterior is painted white with red horizontal bands encircling the upper section. The tower stands approximately 70 meters (230 feet) tall. It features a lantern room at its apex, designed to house a powerful light source.

Location & Access Logistics

The lighthouse is located at the western end of Avenida Costanera, directly on the Pacific coastline of Antofagasta. It is approximately 1 kilometer west of the city center. Access is via Avenida Costanera, which is a paved public road. Ample street parking is available along Avenida Costanera and in adjacent lots. Public bus lines 102, 103, and 104 run along Avenida Costanera, with stops within a 5-minute walk of the monument.
