Historical & Ecological Origin

The building was constructed in the early 20th century, around 1910, by the then-landlord of the area, Rai Bahadur Ananda Chandra Roy. It was originally a residential palace. Following the partition of India and Pakistan, it was repurposed and later designated as a museum and memorial to the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

Best Time to Visit

The best time for photography is in the late afternoon, between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, when the sunlight is less direct. The most favorable months for visiting are from October to March, avoiding the monsoon season and extreme heat.

Facts & Legends

A local anecdote suggests that the original owner, Rai Bahadur Ananda Chandra Roy, commissioned the construction of Rani Kutir in honor of his wife, Rani Bhabani. The building's design is said to incorporate elements that were favored by her.
