Visual Characteristics

The park is characterized by its high-density greenery, featuring stone-lined pathways that lead to various themed gardens. The entrance is marked by a massive bronze bas-relief sculpture depicting the different ethnic groups of the Cordilleras. The landscape includes pine trees, fern-filled grottoes, limestone formations, and various traditional Igorot dwellings (huts) integrated into the garden.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Formerly known as the Imelda Park, it was established to preserve the indigenous plant species of the Cordillera mountains and to showcase the culture of the northern tribes. It serves as a vital genetic bank for highland flowers and medicinal plants. The park also contains remnants of Japanese tunnels from World War II.

Key Highlights & Activities

Igorot Village: Replicas of traditional Cordilleran huts where visitors can learn about indigenous architecture.

Japanese Tunnel: A historical tunnel used during the Japanese occupation, which visitors can explore for a short distance.

Plant Nursery: A wide variety of highland plants, succulents, and flowers are available for viewing and occasionally for sale.

Photography: Popular for portraits in traditional attire and landscape photography among the flowering plants.

Infrastructure & Amenities

The park features public restrooms, paved walkways (some with steep inclines), and several gazebos for resting. Small stalls near the entrance sell local handicrafts and snacks. 5G cellular coverage is excellent.

Best Time to Visit

The park is open daily from 06:00 to 18:00. The best time to visit is during the Panagbenga Festival (February) when the flowers are in full bloom. Early mornings provide the best light and the coolest temperatures.

Facts & Legends

The park is often considered one of the most "Instagrammable" spots in Baguio due to the varied international backdrops. It is also a site for cultural rituals performed by local tribes during significant festivals.
