Tam-awan Village is a reconstructed Cordillera village located in the northwestern periphery of Baguio City. Established in 1998 by the Chanum Foundation, it serves as a center for indigenous arts and culture.
Visual Characteristics
The village is characterized by its steep, hilly terrain and the presence of authentic Ifugao and Kalinga huts. These structures are made of wood and thatched roofs, situated among dense tropical foliage and limestone rock formations. The paths are made of stone steps that wind up the hillside. The village features an art gallery with rotating exhibits by local Cordilleran artists and a rustic, open-air café.

Access: Situated on the outskirts of the city, away from the main commercial district.
Transport: Accessible via jeepneys from the Kayang Street terminal labeled "Tam-awan." Taxis are the most efficient way to reach the site from the city center.

The village was created to preserve and showcase the architectural heritage of the Cordilleras. Original huts were transported from various parts of the region and meticulously reassembled on-site. Ecologically, the area retains a rugged, forested atmosphere that contrasts with the urbanized parts of Baguio.

Best Time to Visit
The village is open daily from 07:00 to 20:00. The best time to visit is in the late afternoon to catch the sunset from the view deck. It is a popular spot during the Panagbenga Festival for cultural demonstrations.

The name "Tam-awan" is a local word meaning "vantage point." It is considered a major hub for the "Baguio school" of art, which blends modern techniques with indigenous themes.
