Mirror Beach | Sarande

Mirror Beach, known locally as Plazhi i Pasqyrave, is a secluded coastal cove situated between the cities of Sarandë and Ksamil in southwestern Albania. It is positioned at the base of a steep limestone cliff along the Ionian Sea coastline.

The beach is composed of white pebbles and coarse sand, bordered by high, light-colored limestone cliffs. The water is characterized by an intense turquoise color and high transparency. A prominent rock formation sits approximately 30 meters offshore, and the seabed transitions rapidly from shallow pebbles to deep rocky crevices.

Location & Access Logistics

Access is via the SH81 road connecting Sarandë and Ksamil. A steep, unpaved, and narrow gravel road descends from the main highway to the shore; high-clearance vehicles are recommended. It is approximately 7 km south of Sarandë. Public buses between Sarandë and Ksamil can drop passengers at the top of the hill, followed by a 15-minute downhill walk. A small, unpaved parking area is located at the base.

The beach is a natural karst formation, created by the erosion of the coastal limestone cliffs. It remains largely undeveloped compared to urban beaches. The name "Mirror Beach" is derived from the way sunlight reflects off the exceptionally clear water surface when the sea is calm, creating a reflective, mirror-like effect against the white seabed.

Snorkeling is a primary activity due to the abundance of marine life around the offshore rock formations. Swimming and sunbathing are the main attractions, with several seasonal sunbed rentals available. Adventurous visitors often swim to the nearby smaller coves accessible only by water.

The optimal time for photography is during the morning hours (09:00–11:00) when the sun is overhead and highlights the water's transparency. The beach is a popular destination and becomes crowded by midday in July and August. Visiting in late May or September provides more space and manageable temperatures.
