Zanjic Beach | Herceg Novi

Žanjic Beach is a coastal cove situated on the Luštica Peninsula at the outer edge of the Bay of Kotor, facing the open Adriatic Sea. It serves as a primary maritime excursion destination for the Herceg Novi municipality, located approximately 6 nautical miles from the city center.

By land, a narrow, winding asphalt road connects the beach to the main Luštica Peninsula route; however, parking is limited to a few private and gravel lots near the waterfront.

The beach is a natural geomorphological formation resulting from wave action against the limestone cliffs of the Luštica Peninsula. Historically, the hinterland was used exclusively for olive cultivation, with some trees in the immediate vicinity estimated to be several centuries old.

Swimming and snorkeling are the primary activities due to the water clarity. Small boats depart from the pier for 15-minute transfers to the nearby Blue Grotto. Kayaking along the coastline toward the Arza fortress is a common logistical activity for visitors.

Local tradition maintains that the olive oil produced from the groves surrounding Žanjic was historically considered of the highest quality in the region due to the salt-rich air and specific microclimate.
