For motorists, a dedicated underground parking garage is available at the main entrance, accessible from the Outer Ring Road (Unaza e Madhe).

Established in 1966, the zoo originally functioned under a Soviet-era model of animal containment. It underwent a total closure for renovation in 2019 to meet modern welfare standards and was reinaugurated in 2022 as a pedagogical and recreational center. The park is integrated into the ecological corridor of the Grand Park, which acts as a green lung for the capital.
