Historical & Ecological Origin

The garden was established by the zamindar (landlord) of Baldha, Abu Bakr Siddique, starting in 1904 and continuing until his death in 1940. His intention was to create a repository for rare and exotic plant species collected from various regions. It is classified as a botanical garden, focusing on the collection, cultivation, and display of a wide array of plant life.

Visitors can observe a wide variety of plant species, including orchids, cacti, and medicinal plants. The garden is suitable for walking and observing plant collections. Photography of the flora is permitted.

A notable feature of Baldha Garden is its collection of over 600 species of orchids, one of the largest collections in Bangladesh. The garden was meticulously curated by Abu Bakr Siddique himself, who personally oversaw the planting and arrangement of each specimen.
